hey all, i had a hard drive crap out on me
so i had to go through the whole process of getting a new drive up and running and installing assloads of crap on it
I am now thinking about after I finish getting all my crap back on it, making a clone drive and tossing it in the closet... if this happens again...just plug the clone in and I'm ready to roll
Is that how they work? like all my programs that I had to install and everything will be on there? like photoshop and windows and all my drivers and what not..
I have never cloned before so from what i am reading....i think that will work...am i wrong?
i know i will still need to back up my data from this point out, but all my programs and junk is what im thinkin about

| I was going to suggest using Norton Ghost...it's the only decent product norton ever made but if you've got these other software options, I'd go with them instead. lol Did the hard drive just FAIL? You can use other programs to get all files off of the failed hard drive so long as you can see it as a listed drive. It's happened to me, the drive would not load windows, corrupted OS or something. But with a PE Builder software, I was able to go in and grab all my music, photos, website shit and everything. Very enjoyable. ;)

I learned my lesson long ago so I back up on a pretty regular schedule. I did have a few things I needed to dig in and get, but no issues there.
I knew it was gonna happen too, I have had to smack the computer for awhile to get it to spin up...i thinks i smacked it too hard the last time..lol it sounded like it was gonna explode, then started the click of death

I would suggest downloading Macrium Reflect (free version). Hit it up in Google and you'll find it. You can make an .ISO image file of your partion/hard drive ,and then just load the ISO onto that hard drive using Macrium Reflect. Then voila you have a cloned hard drive and when it fails just plug in the clone. Also, it is very useful for returning computers to normal after virus or if something goes wrong.
