Doctype

The doctype declaration lets the browser software know which HTML version or type that the document will be using. It's usually placed on the first line in HTML documents. This example shows how to declare that your document is HTML version 5 normal: <!doctype html> Uppercase letters will convey the same instructions: <!DOCTYPE html> Here is a starter document that passes HTML5 validation: <!doctype html> <html> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8"> <title>My Web Page</title> </head> <body> <h2>Welcome to my web page</h2> </body> </html>
