URL is an acronym for "Uniform Resource Locator". It is a protocol usually used by browser software to specify and handle internet addresses or access to relative files on your web server. It is how people arrive at web sites and access files online. A URL can lead to a website, lead to independent files on a website, and initiate functionality of the browser software. It is a location reference much like your home address is how people can find you in this big giant world full of people.
